We ate dinner last Monday eve (Aug 30) with Gregg, Laurie, and Katelyn in Topeka (great time with them).
Tuesday we left Topeka in the motorhome arriving at Bellville, KS to have motorhome transmission oil and filters changed. We got away from there about 4 PM and arrived Deshler, NE about 5 PM. After eating dinner in the motorhome, we drove about 8 miles to Dennis and Susan's farm house for the evening. It was great to see them (been three years). Wednesday morning they picked us up from the motorhome and drove to Hebron to celebrate cousin Mildred's 81st birthday where she lives in an assisted living facility. Loraine, Jordan, and Justus were there also.
Thursday we were on the road again and stayed at an RV park in Cheyenne overnight. We ate supper at the RV park restaurant where we shared a large plate of buffalo ribs - different but give me good ole' pork ribs.
Friday we drove as far as Ogden, UT where we "camped" overnight in the Costco parking lot after doing some needed shopping. It was cool so we slept great.
Saturday we drove to Twin Falls, ID for a several hour stop to visit my (Larry's) 102 year old second cousin, Mildred Benke. Wow, I hope I can be in as good of physical and mental condition in several decades from now. She really enjoys her assisted living facility and is doing real well there. She shared photos of our family from way back................. Diane and I then drove to Huntington, OR and a campground right on the Snake River (photo below). Oh, crossing of the Snake River from Interstate (84) to Twin Falls was spectacular. We took some pictures that we may e-mail several when we can.
Sunday we drove to about 15 miles east of Portland where we are spent the night in a campground. Monday morning we explored via car some waterfalls and a drive that Matt told us are spectacular. Diane also shopped at a "Fabric Depot" to see what was available. We arrived at Matt's parents (Jim and Colleen) home on the west side of Portland mid afternoon. They arranged for us to park our motorhome in their housing area for the night. They connected with Matt and Connor via Skype for a nice video chat, fed us a great supper, then watched Boise State beat out Virginia Tech in the last minute of their football game.
Tuesday morning after breakfast with Colleen, we drove motorhome the final few miles to Tillamook (total 1933 from Topeka) campground to meet with the other staff couple for our caravan tour beginning on September 14. We arrived early so we will have plenty of time to get organized and meet our guests as they arrive.
Wednesday or Thursday we hope to drive car to Salem to visit Diane's uncle and aunt and perhaps see a few cousins.
