Gold Beach, September 24-25

Friday evening found most of us in the Swartzwald (Black Forest) of the Honey Bear Campground enjoying Oktoberfest food specialties.

The owner of the campground entertained us after evening meal with German songs and had us dancing to great Umpa music.

The next morning found us loading on a jet boat for a trip up the Rogue River.  We ventured on the shortest trip so we were not exposed to rapids.  Our guide made the trip extremely educational, interesting, and fun.

There were a lot of fishermen hoping to catch salmon.

We spotted a lot of birds, including eagles.
The scenery was gorgeous; with our early start we needed to bundle up.

We passed under several highway bridges.

We stopped for lunch at Agnes restaurants.
There were myrtle wood trees every where.

The area has a lot of willows also.

We had a great view up-river from our picnic table.

On our way back down river we made a stop to pick up US mail.

By early afternoon many of the fishermen had their catches.

By 2 PM as we returned to our starting dock a lot more fishing boats had gathered at the mouth of the Rogue River.
